China Mini Truck Sales Top 30,000 in October; Chery and Changan Lead

China’s mini truck market sold over 30,000 units in October 2025. A new entrant cracked the top seven, while Chery, Changan, and another leading manufacturer held steady in the top three.

From January to September 2025, the mini truck market showed mixed trends: two months of growth, four months of decline, and three months of rebound. By the end of September, cumulative sales were down 10% compared to the same period last year.

In October, China’s overall truck market grew 22% year-on-year. Mini trucks outperformed the wider market, with sales reaching 30,500 units. While down 10% from September, this figure represents a 65% increase compared with October 2024, marking the fourth consecutive month of year-on-year growth. The mini truck segment clearly outpaced the overall market.

Looking at the past five years, October mini truck sales have followed a roughly up-down-up-down-up pattern. This year’s 30,500 units rank as the second-lowest over the period but are about 12,000 units higher than last year. Compared with October 2021, sales are down over 40,000 units, roughly 40% of that year’s volume. From January to October 2025, cumulative mini truck sales reached 347,800 units—the lowest in five years—about 25,000 units below last year and more than 150,000 units lower than the same period in 2023.

October 2025 Mini Truck Sales Highlights

Total sales: 30,500 units, up 65% year-on-year, slightly below September’s 82% increase.

Eight companies reported sales, one fewer than in September.

Four companies posted growth: Wuling (+271%), Changan (+77%), Foton (+62%), and Shandong Leichi (new entrant).

Four companies saw minor declines, while one fell 60% year-on-year.

Market Share – October 2025

Wuling led with 15,900 units, capturing 52.0% of the market.

Changan and Chery followed with 5,851 and 4,262 units, holding 19.2% and 14.0% of the market, respectively.

Dongfeng, Shandong Kaima, and YuanCheng ranked fourth to sixth, selling 1,469, 1,454, and 1,302 units, representing 4.8%, 4.8%, and 4.3%.

The top six companies accounted for nearly 99% of total sales.

Total: 347,800 units, down 7% year-on-year, a smaller drop than the 10% decline after September.

Three companies grew, seven declined. Chery rose 39% year-on-year, while Shandong Leichi and Yuchai New Energy also posted gains.

Four companies recorded double-digit declines, with one dropping 95%.

Shandong Kaima: 8.6%

Dongfeng and YuanCheng: 5.4% and 3.3%

All other companies held under 0.5% each.

Outlook for 2025

The mini truck market began 2025 with two months of growth, fell for four months from March, and rebounded from July through October. After October, cumulative sales were down 7% year-on-year, roughly 25,000 units lower. With two months left in 2025, the market’s year-end performance will depend on sustained growth in November and December.
