China Heavy Truck Sales Hit Yearly High in November

China’s heavy truck market recorded its strongest monthly performance of the year in November 2025, as sales rose sharply for an eighth consecutive month, according to industry data.

Heavy truck sales totaled 113,200 units in November, up 65% year on year and 7% from October, data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) showed. The growth rate was five percentage points higher than in October, further extending the market’s recovery momentum.

Total truck sales in China, including chassis and tractor units, reached 338,400 units in November, up 9% month on month and 26% year on year, based on manufacturer invoicing data.

From a historical perspective, November’s heavy truck sales were well above average. Over the past decade, excluding 2025, average November sales stood at around 78,700 units. Only two years during that period recorded monthly sales above 100,000 units. With 113,200 units sold, November 2025 ranked as the second-highest November on record, trailing only November 2020, and marked the strongest November performance in the past five years.

January–November Sales Exceed 1 Million Units

For the first eleven months of 2025, China’s heavy truck market sold a total of 1.0423 million units, up 27% from the same period last year. The increase amounted to approximately 224,500 units year on year.

The cumulative sales volume ranked second among the past five years and sixth among the past ten years. Growth in cumulative sales has accelerated in recent months, reflecting improving demand.

November was also the strongest single month of the year, outperforming traditional peak periods such as March–April and September–October. Average monthly sales from January to November reached about 94,600 units, significantly higher than the average levels recorded in 2024 and 2023, indicating a clear market recovery in 2025.

By the end of November, cumulative sales had already surpassed the one-million-unit mark. Based on current trends, full-year heavy truck sales are expected to exceed 1.1 million units.

Sinotruk and FAW Jiefang Maintain Lead as Market Concentration Rises

In November, five manufacturers each reported sales of more than 10,000 heavy trucks, unchanged from the previous month. Sinotruk remained the market leader with sales of 28,800 units, followed by FAW Jiefang at 23,800 units. Dongfeng sold 17,200 units, Shaanxi Auto reported 16,100 units, and Foton recorded sales of 13,600 units.

The top ten manufacturers accounted for 96.43% of total heavy truck sales in November, while the top five alone captured a combined market share of 87.78%, highlighting a high level of industry concentration.

Manufacturers ranked sixth to tenth included XCMG, Geely Farizon, BAIC Heavy Truck, Hubei Sanhuan, and Shandong Leichi, with monthly sales ranging from 4,500 units to 932 units.

All top ten manufacturers posted year-on-year growth in November. Foton, XCMG, Geely Farizon, and Hubei Sanhuan recorded triple-digit growth, while FAW Jiefang and Dongfeng also outpaced the overall market. Sinotruk, Shaanxi Auto, and BAIC Heavy Truck each reported growth of more than 20%.

Notably, Foton, XCMG, and BAIC Heavy Truck have recorded year-on-year growth for eleven consecutive months in 2025, with Foton achieving triple-digit growth for six straight months.

In terms of rankings, Shandong Leichi returned to the monthly top ten in November, while Hubei Sanhuan entered the top ten for the first time in a prolonged period. The top eight rankings were unchanged from October.

Cumulative Rankings Show Further Industry Consolidation

From January to November 2025, Sinotruk ranked first with cumulative sales of 282,100 units, accounting for 27.06% of the market. FAW Jiefang, Shaanxi Auto, Dongfeng, and Foton followed, together making up the remainder of the top five.

XCMG ranked sixth with cumulative sales of 34,600 units. Geely Farizon, JAC Motors, BAIC Heavy Truck, and Chery ranked seventh to tenth, each holding market shares between 0.6% and 1.3%.

Among the top ten manufacturers, nine recorded year-on-year growth in cumulative sales. Chery, Foton, and XCMG posted the fastest growth rates, while several others also outperformed the overall market.

The top ten manufacturers together accounted for 97.54% of total heavy truck sales from January to November, with the top five alone holding 90.30%, up from 87.85% a year earlier. The data point to further consolidation in China’s heavy truck industry.

Compared with last year, several manufacturers increased their market share, led by Foton, which gained 4.71 percentage points, followed by XCMG with a 1.14-point increase.

China’s heavy truck market delivered a strong performance in November 2025, with sales rising 65% year on year and exceeding traditional peak-season levels. With only one month remaining in the year, full-year heavy truck sales are widely expected to surpass 1.1 million units, underscoring the sector’s ongoing recovery.
