On May 9, Weichai Power unveiled its second-generation mining power products in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, under the theme “Break Through · Reshape.” This product launch showcased a complete range of next-generation heavy-duty engines for mining equipment, highlighting Weichai’s strong R&D capabilities and commitment to advancing core technologies. The release represents a significant step toward reducing reliance on foreign brands in the field of large-scale mining equipment engines. Customers, dealers, and media from across China attended the event.

Full Product Line Debuts: M Series and H/T Series Engines

Weichai introduced a full lineup of high-performance engines tailored for excavators, rigid mining trucks, and wide-body dump trucks.

The M Series includes three main platforms—M25, M33, and M55—covering 10 engine sub-series with displacements ranging from 19.6L to 87.5L and power outputs from 522 kW to 2800 kW. These large-displacement diesel engines are designed for 55- to 400-ton rigid mining trucks, 90- to 400-ton excavators, and 600–1000 hp bulldozers. Key features include:

Reliable performance at altitudes up to 5,000 meters

5% lower fuel consumption compared to similar engines

Extended overhaul interval up to 20,000 hours

Compatibility with various fuel types

To date, over 1,700 units have been deployed, accumulating more than 24,000 hours of field operation.

The H/T Series, featuring the WP14T, WP15H, and WP17T, targets 95- to 160-ton wide-body dump trucks and 60- to 100-ton excavators. These engines incorporate advanced combustion technology, optimized turbocharging, and friction-reduction design, achieving more than 10% fuel savings. Built with high-strength and dust-resistant materials, they ensure high durability and reliability under heavy workloads. All critical components are fully standardized to simplify maintenance and reduce downtime.

Green Power Options Drive Smarter, Sustainable Mining

Weichai also launched new hybrid-ready engines tailored for extended-range electric mining vehicles, including the WP17T methanol engine, WP16 natural gas engine, and WP14T diesel engine. These products integrate Weichai’s proven internal combustion expertise with high-efficiency electric drive technology, offering low fuel consumption and flexibility across multiple fuel types, such as methanol and natural gas. This supports the global push toward green mining solutions.

New Mining Service Base Opens to Support After-Sales Excellence

Weichai officially inaugurated its new Mining Service Base at the event, aimed at standardizing service processes and providing faster, more reliable support for mining operators across China.

An industry forum was also held, bringing together experts and scholars to discuss topics such as intelligent mining, localization of core technologies, and new cooperation models. The forum highlighted future trends in smart mining solutions and technological innovation.
