BYD Rolls Out the 10,000th T5 Electric Light Truck

September 04,2025

On September 3, BYD marked a major milestone as the 10,000th T5 electric light truck rolled off the production line at its smart truck factory in Huai’an. Since its launch, the T5 has quickly gained popularity in express delivery, logistics, supermarket supply, and cold chain transport, thanks to its advanced technology, strong quality, and fit for city distribution.

Light trucks play a key role in city logistics, often handling the crucial “last mile.” The rollout of the 10,000th T5 is not only a product success but also an important step in the growth of China’s new energy light truck market.

Tian Chunlong, General Manager of BYD Commercial Vehicles, said:

“Today we celebrate more than just 10,000 units. It proves that China’s new energy commercial vehicle industry is moving to scale. With core technologies like the Blade Battery, direct cooling system, and BSC electronic braking, the T5 keeps improving in range and efficiency. It now supports many applications, from city delivery to cold chain transport. This achievement comes from our team’s hard work and the smart manufacturing strength of our Huai’an factory.”

From small parcels to fresh produce, the T5 can handle many different delivery tasks. With the 10,000th unit now on the road, BYD will continue to use its strong integration and innovation to provide greener, more efficient solutions for city logistics.

The T5 was designed with city delivery in mind. High frequency, short and medium distances, many stops, and access needs — the T5 is built for this reality. It comes in both hybrid and pure electric versions, so customers can choose what works best.

The T5 offers a driving range of up to 400 km on a single charge, making it practical for a full day of urban deliveries. It also supports DC fast charging, reaching 30% to 80% in just about 15 minutes. This makes it easy to recharge during delivery breaks, boosting efficiency. Its Blade Battery is safe, long-lasting, and has industry-leading energy density, ensuring reliable performance across all seasons and regions. With its energy recovery system, the T5 also uses less electricity per 100 km than most competitors, helping customers save on costs.

The 10,000th T5 is just the beginning. BYD Commercial Vehicles will continue working with partners to advance urban logistics with zero emissions, higher efficiency, and sustainable growth.
