At IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Chinese electric heavy-dutytruck manufacturerSuperPanther once again attracted global attention. Unlike its previous focus on electrification, the company is now sending a clear message: electrification is only the foundation, while intelligent systems will be a defining element of the next generation of commercial vehicles.

Withthe launch of its Truck Brain and Embodied Intelligence Strategy, SuperPanther is evolvingfrom an electric truck manufacturerintoa provider ofintelligent transport solutions. The company also announced deeper cooperation with global logistics company DHL Freight to develop and test intelligent truck technologies.

eTopas 600 Enters the European Market

At the event, SuperPanther first highlighted theseries production and delivery of the eTopas 600. The model has obtained EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) and is being series-produced at the Steyr Automotive plant in Austria, with deliveries already underway. The eTopas 600 is now operating in real-world transport scenarios with European customers.

SuperPanther plans to deliver about 100 eTopas 600 trucks in 2026 and a total of 1,000 trucks to European customers by the end of 2027. These figures not only mark important commercial milestone, but also reflect that the truck is gaining initial recognition in the European market for its reliability, operating economy and efficiency.

The eTopas 600 is equipped with a 621 kWh battery and offersa range of up to approximately 560 km. Under representative operating conditions, energy consumption can be as low as 0.94 kWh/km. The truck supports dual CCS2 fast charging at up to 660 kW. It is designed to deliver greater operational efficiency for logistics customers across Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and the Czech Republic.

SuperPanther Unveils the “Truck Brain”

With its electric trucks now in seriesproduction and customer operation, SuperPanther is expanding its focus to intelligent vehicle technologies. The company has introduced its “Truck Brain” and a roadmap for embodied intelligence. If series production and customer deliveries demonstrate SuperPanther’s capabilities, the launch of its intelligent transportation strategy marks the next step in the company’s evolution. SuperPanther believes intelligence should be designed into the vehicle architecture from the outset, rather than added as a collection of standalone functions.

The Truck Brain is not designed to replace existing real-time driving systems. Instead, it adds a cognitive layer to them. It combines knowledge, context, memory and reasoning, and uses a “World Model” to better understand the environment around the truck. This allows the truck to do more than recognize what is happening at a given moment. It can also predict what may happen next and support safer and smarter driving decisions. For example, if an accident occurs ahead on a highway, the Truck Brain can analyze road conditions, traffic and potential risks,assess whether an emergency stop or a safe lane change may be appropriate, and provide the relevant guidance to the vehicle’s real-time driving system.

Building on the Truck Brain, SuperPanther has defined a clear three-stage Embodied Intelligence Strategy.

Embodied Intelligence 1.0: The focus will be on situational awareness and explainable driver assistance. In 2027, SuperPanther plans to introduce Level 2+ highwaypilot, including automated lane changes, in-lane collision avoidance and ramp navigation. Embodied Intelligence 2.0: SuperPanther will introduce what it calls “Brain-enhanced L4” autonomous driving under specific operating conditions. An onboard large AI model will serve as a core technology. Embodied Intelligence 3.0: The company aims to develop what it calls a “full-mission cargo robot” for complex transport operations. At this stage, intelligence will extend beyond driving tothe entire transport workflow, moving from automated driving to autonomous task completion.

The long-term goal is to move from automated driving to trucks that can understand transport tasks and complete them autonomously. To support this vision, SuperPanther also introducedtwo next-generation core technologies: the EverDrive electric drive axle, with an integrated design and continuous torque of 43,000 N·m, and a new high-voltage domain controller that reduces system weight by more than 50 kg. Together, they provide a stronger hardware foundation for future products.

SuperPanther and DHL Partner to Advance Truck Intelligence with Real-World Data

The evolution of intelligent transportation depends on continuous validation in real-world scenarios.At the event, SuperPanther also signed a memorandum of understanding with global logistics company DHL. The two companies will work together on what SuperPanther calls “truck task intelligence,” focusing on how trucks can better understand and complete transport tasks. DHL will provide real-world logistics workflows and operational data, which the two companies will use to jointly validate and improve SuperPanther’s intelligent systems.

SuperPanther says intelligent trucks need more than hardware and software.The company can build the “body” and “brain” of an intelligent truck, butthe operational knowledge and insights that can only be gained from real-world transportexperience..The cooperation with DHL marks a key step in putting SuperPanther’s intelligent technologies to the test and continuously refining them in some of the most demanding and complex real-world logistics environments. It also reflects an open approach to intelligent vehicle development, with SuperPanther working alongside a global logistics leader to explore, validate and advance intelligent transportation technologies together.

The IAA presentation shows that SuperPanther’s strategyfocus is entering a new stage. From the production and delivery of the eTopas 600 to the new electric drive axle and high-voltage domain controller, and now the Truck Brain and embodied intelligence roadmap, SuperPanther has demonstrateda clear path ofevolution: first proving that electric heavy-duty trucks can be commercially deployed, and thenturningreal-world operations into a source of data for continuous intelligent development. Electrification provides a new foundation for transport, while intelligence adds new capabilities. Real-world operations turn those capabilities into practical value.

SuperPanther’s long-term goal is to build trucks that can not only drive themselves, but also understand transport tasks and complete them autonomously—and turn intelligence into operational value.
