Shandong Heavy Industry Unveils Green, Smart Construction Equipment in Australia

May 20,2025

SYDNEY (May 18, 2025) — Shandong Heavy Industry Group showcased a wide range of intelligent and low-emission machinery at Australia’s largest construction exhibition, the National Diesel Dirt & Turf Expo (DDT), held May 16–18 in Sydney.

Group subsidiaries Weichai Power, Sinotruk, and Shantui participated under the joint theme “WE ARE ONE,” marking the first time the companies exhibited together at the event. The coordinated presence demonstrated the group’s integrated capabilities across power systems, heavy-duty vehicles, and construction equipment.

Shantui drew significant attention with machines tailored for Australian mining, municipal, and infrastructure projects. Key models included the SE335LC excavator, the L76-C5 wheel loader equipped with a Weichai WP10H engine, and the LE20-X5 electric wheel loader designed for urban and environmental applications. The LE20-X5 offers zero-emission operation with energy consumption as low as 10 kWh and supports one-hour rapid charging.

Weichai Power featured its Baudouin M-Series engines, including the 6M33 and 20M33 models. These large-displacement engines are suited for high-demand scenarios such as mining and emergency backup power. The 6M33 has recorded over 12,000 operating hours in Indonesian mines, with fuel consumption rates among the best in its class.

Sinotruk presented seven vehicle models adapted for the Australian market, led by the Sitrak G7 6x4 tipper truck and high-horsepower HOWO tractors. Additional models included tippers, mixers, and hook-lift garbage trucks. Sinotruk reported an 83% increase in Australian sales of heavy-duty trucks in the first four months of 2024, year over year.

The group emphasized its commitment to sustainable and high-performance equipment solutions as part of its broader global strategy. “We are focused on smart technologies and cleaner energy to meet the evolving needs of international markets,” the company said in a statement.

Shandong Heavy Industry said it will continue to invest in innovation and global partnerships to support efficiency and emissions reduction across construction and transportation sectors.
