Chinese automaker JAC Motors is expanding its presence in Latin America through a strategic partnership with Anhui Cummins, as demand grows for reliable and fuel-efficient commercial vehicles in the region’s challenging operating environments.

JAC’s light trucks, equipped with Anhui Cummins engines, are gaining traction in countries such as Mexico and Ecuador, where rugged terrain and high temperatures pose significant challenges to vehicle performance. The collaboration has allowed JAC to strengthen its foothold in the region by offering products tailored to local conditions.

Latin America’s diverse geography—ranging from crowded urban roads to high-altitude mountain passes and humid rainforests—places high demands on vehicle powertrains. Anhui Cummins engines, particularly the B4.5 model, are engineered to deliver consistent performance, fuel economy, and durability under these conditions, according to the company.

In Mexico, logistics firms report that JAC trucks equipped with the B4.5 engine are performing well in both city traffic and mountainous areas. One delivery company cited improved fuel efficiency, smoother shifting, and stable power output under load as key advantages. Enhanced cooling systems have also reduced breakdowns and maintenance needs, operators said.

In Ecuador, transport companies operating across the Andes and tropical regions have noted similar benefits. During a rainy season delivery, a JAC truck powered by a B4.5 engine successfully navigated muddy roads that stranded other vehicles. Drivers cited the engine’s torque and electronic control system as key to maintaining traction and reliability.

Eduardo Noriega, a logistics manager in Mexico, said the trucks’ engines consistently perform well across varied routes and temperatures. “Many clients request models powered by Cummins engines,” he said. “They’re also gaining popularity in the U.S. market.”

Juan Carlos, a fleet owner in Ecuador, highlighted the trucks’ dependability for time-sensitive deliveries across diverse terrain. “The engine adapts to every road condition,” he said. “We’ve gained trust from end customers and are confident in adopting this power system.”

Anhui Cummins said it will continue to support JAC’s growth in Latin America by developing engine solutions that meet the region’s environmental and operational demands. The companies aim to provide efficient and dependable vehicles to address the expanding logistics and transportation needs across the continent.
