Foton Reports Strong H1 Sales, Highlights NEV Strategy at Mid-Year Conference

Foton Motor reported significant growth in vehicle sales and reaffirmed its long-term strategy to become a world-class commercial vehicle manufacturer during its 2025 Mid-Year Business Conference, held July 28 at the China National Convention Center.

The Beijing-based company said it sold 327,000 vehicles in the first half of 2025, an increase of 9.1% compared to the same period last year. Sales of heavy-duty trucks rose 74.3% to 67,000 units, while sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) more than doubled to over 50,000 units, up 151% year-over-year.

Executives said the strong results were driven by continued strategic transformation, improvements in marketing operations, and enhanced product competitiveness.

Foton’s leadership reiterated its focus on three core strategies: internationalization, electrification, and digitalization. Chairman Chang Rui said the company aims for NEVs to account for 50% of total sales by 2030. He also emphasized goals to improve manufacturing quality, brand reputation, and talent development to align with global benchmarks.

General Manager Wu Xibin said the company remains committed to an open and collaborative approach with industry partners, aiming to build a diversified and cooperative ecosystem.


 

In addition to reporting on first-half results, the conference outlined priorities for the second half of the year. Vice General Manager and spokesperson Liu Xuguang said Foton will focus on strengthening distribution channels, expanding ecosystem partnerships, and accelerating NEV infrastructure development. All major business segments—including light trucks, vans, and exports—achieved growth in the first half, with NEV and overseas sales showing particularly strong performance.

Foton also unveiled several new products and technologies at the event. These included:

“Morning Star” Platform, described as the world’s first dedicated electric light truck platform, featuring a high-efficiency powertrain and adaptability to a range of environments.

Auman Galaxy NEV Trucks, a new line of energy-efficient, intelligent heavy-duty trucks based on Foton’s Galaxy architecture.

Xiangling U7, the company’s first electric van, offering extended range and increased cargo capacity.

View T7, a compact electric truck designed for last-mile urban deliveries with multiple configuration options.

Foton’s sub-brand IECO also introduced a new electric drive system designed for heavy-duty trucks and buses. The system is compatible with both electric and hydrogen power sources and integrates advanced components such as control units, e-axles, and batteries.

The conference reinforced the company’s commitment to its “30·50” strategy—targeting 30% of sales from NEVs by 2030—and its broader push toward sustainable and intelligent transportation solutions.
