Zimbabwean President Emerson Mnangagwa met with representatives from Skwell and its partners in Beijing this week. Attendees included Huang Hongsheng, founder of Skwell and Skyworth Auto; Li Peng, General Manager of Xiamen International Trade Group; Dr. Nyasha Muzavazi, Chairman of Zimbabwe’s ZEMECO Company; and Qu Wanfei, Vice President of Skyworth Photovoltaic Energy Storage.

The discussions focused on strategic cooperation to support Zimbabwe’s national development goals, particularly in green energy and carbon reduction. Key initiatives include promoting new energy vehicles, developing green transportation systems, and deploying solar power and energy storage technologies.

Huang highlighted Skwell’s experience in new energy vehicles, core components, and smart transport solutions. He also noted Africa’s significant potential for green power and new energy projects, which could benefit Skyworth Auto’s commercial and passenger vehicle lines, as well as integrated solar-storage-charging stations.

President Mnangagwa welcomed the talks, emphasizing that energy transition and efficiency improvements are critical priorities for Zimbabwe. He said the two sides share a common vision for green energy, and the partnership could help advance the country’s strategic objectives.

The meeting marks a step in Skwell’s expansion into the African market. Under the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, the company plans to leverage its technology and market expertise to provide new energy solutions and support Zimbabwe’s sustainable development.
