Indonesia’s State-led Firm Set to Purchase 320,000 Vehicles

November 27,2025

Jakarta, Indonesia – [Nov 27, 2025] /Chinatrucks.org/ — Indonesia’s state-owned Agrinas Pangan Nusantara plans to buy 320,000 vehicles, including trucks and motorbikes, as part of a $12 billion program to set up cooperative markets across the country, CEO Joao Mota said on Nov 26, 2025.

The program supports President Prabowo Subianto’s plan to create 80,000 cooperatives to help small businesses sell products directly to consumers and reduce reliance on middlemen. The cooperatives will also offer microloans, cold storage, small health clinics, and subsidized essential goods.

Agrinas will buy 35,000 six-wheeler trucks from local partners of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus and Isuzu. The company is also negotiating an additional 45,000 trucks from China’s Dongfeng Motor Group and India’s Tata Motors. In addition, Agrinas is in talks to purchase 80,000 4x4 vehicles from Isuzu, Tata, and Mahindra. Motorbike-pulled carts for transporting cooperative products will come from brands including India’s TVS Motor Company and Indonesia’s Viar Motor Indonesia.

“Our main goal is to cut logistics costs and help local producers compete,” Mota said. The vehicle purchases and cooperative development will be financed through loans from state banks, guaranteed by the government.

The program comes as Indonesia’s auto industry has faced declining monthly sales since May 2025. Officials say the initiative is part of a broader effort to boost rural economic activity and target 8% GDP growth by 2029.
