Dongfeng Motor targets to sell 2 mln vehicles in 2010

(chinatrucks.com, Feb.02, 2010)Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor Corporation has set its 2010 sales target at 2 million vehicles and expects its annual sales revenue to reach 290 billion yuan.

The automaker managed to sell 1.9 million vehicles in 2009, 43.6 percent more than it had the previous year. It meanwhile managed to push its sales revenue up 30.2 percent on year to 256.4 billion yuan, while profit surged by 96.3 percent.

Dongfeng Motor's general manager Xu Ping said that the company will accelerate its R&D for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, new-energy vehicles and key assemblies, and further develop its independent brand models.
Ford Stops Production of Van In China for Gas Pedal Problem

Ford has halted production of commercial vehicles in China after learning that the gas pedals came from the supplier involved in the Toyota recall, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

There have been no reports of the acceleration problems that made Toyota issue its massive recall.

The production halt affects the full-size Transit Classic commercial vehicle Ford makes in China with one of its joint-venture partners, Jiangling Motors, according to Ford spokesman Said Deep.
