2013 Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Competition Sets to Start

www.chinatrucks.com: March 15, 2013. Beijing, China – Volvo Trucks announce the kick-off of 2013 Volvo Trucks China Fuelwatch Competition which will last for 5 months in china.. This is the fifth time Volvo Trucks hold the campaign, aiming to provide a platform for truck drivers to reveal their talents and spirits. This year, Volvo Trucks will continue the traditions of public training, Fuelwatch test, Fuelwatch Ambassador online vote, etc. The purpose is to improve truck drivers’ driving skills, fuel-saving and safe driving behaviors, and encourage more passion for their road transportation work.
When speaking of holding the fifth Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Competition in succession, Mr. Eric Labat, President of Volvo Trucks China said, “What we expect from the campaign is drivers’ increased initiatives and passion for the transport work they are devoted to. Through our training given by professional trainers, participants could learn how to achieve better fuel effeciency throught driving skills. Energy conservation and emission reduction becomes a major trend in line with the nation’s development plan since last year. Through its fuel-efficiency related services of Total Transport Solutions, including professional drivers training, performance measurements, and lean fuel services, Volvo Trucks helps customers reduce fuel costs. According to Volvo Trucks data, driving skills could impact on around 20% fuel consumption, and the number could climb to 50% when the driving behavior is incorrect. Volvo Trucks insist that fuel-saving and driving behavior improvement could be the key to help logistic companies realize higher efficiency and lower operation cost.

To provide more chances for drivers to know about truck functions and learn fuel-saving techniques, Volvo Trucks launches public training classes since last year. There were 45 classes in total offered by Volvo Trucks in 2012 and more than 2000 drivers have received and benefitted from the training. In 2013, Volvo Trucks will continue to offer more and better public training classes, which is part of social responsibilities and commitments met by Volvo Trucks.
Besides, every driver can participate in “Volvo Trucks Fuelwatch Ambassador” online voting through sharing his experience and stories in fuel saving. In 2012, the elected Fuelwatch Ambassador Cui Neng went to Australia and watched the Volvo Trucks Asia-Pacific Final with Liu Jinqiang.
