Facing rising raw material costs, Hino truck may vehicle prices
June 26,2008
Hino Motors Ltd., Japan's largest maker of heavy trucks, may increase domestic vehicle prices because of rising raw material costs.
``We can't fully absorb surging raw material costs even though we are making efforts,'' Yoshihiro Udagawa, a company spokesman said in a telephone interview today. He declined to comment on when or by how much the company will raise prices.
Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. will this year increase the prices of trucks by 3 percent to 5 percent because of the rising cost of steel, resins and other materials, the Nikkei newspaper said today. Isuzu Motors Ltd. is also considering lifting prices, it said.
