World number two truck maker Volvo said on Wednesday deliveries of its trucks rose 4 percent year-on-year in August as increased shipments in Asia offset declines in Europe and North America

Volvo, which sells trucks under the Renault, Nissan Diesel and Mack brands as well as its own name, said in a statement, deliveries in its biggest market, Europe, fell 10 percent while they fell 18 percent in North America.

In Asia, home to a bigger share of the group's business following the acquisition last year of Nissan Diesel, deliveries shot up 48 percent from a year ago, Volvo said.
